Why a website is still your most important digital asset
Social media profiles, marketplaces and map listings matter, but they all belong to someone else. The rules can change, your reach can shrink and an account can be closed overnight. Your website is the one channel you fully own. When a prospect searches for you, weighs a quote or compares you with a competitor, your site is usually the first place they look.
A good company website does three things at once: it explains what you do within seconds, it builds trust, and it moves the visitor to the next step — a message, a call or a quote request. If one of these is missing, the site may look nice but it won't bring in business.
Template or custom design?
Templates are quick and cheap, but thousands of sites share the same skeleton, they slow down under unused code and they never quite fit your brand. With a custom design, every page is built around your content, your audience and your sales process.
At WoodstoneStudio we don't use off-the-shelf themes. We design the interface from scratch and build it with Next.js and React. The result is a site that contains only the code you need, loads fast and stands apart from your competitors.
What a good website needs
Every project is different, but almost every successful site has these foundations:
- A clear headline: visitors should understand what you do and who you serve on the first screen.
- Service pages: a dedicated, detailed page per service informs customers and helps you rank for searches about that service.
- Trust signals: references, client reviews, real project examples and transparent contact details.
- Easy contact: WhatsApp, email and a quote button reachable with one tap from every page.
- Mobile-first layout: most visitors arrive on a phone, so the site should be designed for mobile first.
- Speed: a site that doesn't load within a few seconds loses a large share of its visitors on the first screen.
SEO-ready web design: visibility on Google is planned from day one
Search engine optimisation is not a coat of paint added after launch; it is part of the foundation. A correct heading hierarchy, meaningful page titles and descriptions, clean URLs, a sitemap, structured data and fast loading are all set up during design and development.
Technical SEO is standard on every site we deliver: titles and descriptions, Open Graph images, an automatic sitemap, robots.txt, structured data, plus Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools setup. We use the same foundation on our own site.
Why speed and performance matter so much
Google uses page speed and user experience (Core Web Vitals) as ranking signals. More importantly, a slow site loses customers: visitors don't wait, they go back and click the next result.
We build sites with statically generated pages, optimised images and minimal JavaScript. That approach loads fast and keeps hosting costs low — on many sites hosting becomes close to free.
Security and maintenance
The most common problem with plugin-based systems is security holes from plugins that never get updated. A static foundation has a much smaller attack surface: with no exposed database or admin panel, the risk drops considerably.
We stay with you after launch, with maintenance for content updates, new pages, small design changes and technical checks.
Multilingual websites
If you sell abroad or serve international clients, an English version of your site (and other languages where needed) makes a real difference. In a properly built multilingual site each language has its own URL (for example /en), search engines are told about the language relationship through hreflang tags, and each language can rank on Google on its own.
Our own site runs on exactly this structure in Turkish and English. We don't leave translations as machine output; each language is written for its own reader.
The technology we use
For a modern, fast and long-lasting foundation we work with:
- Next.js and React: fast, SEO-friendly and scalable web interfaces.
- Tailwind CSS: a consistent, lightweight design system that is easy to update.
- TypeScript: fewer bugs and easier maintenance.
- Vercel, GitHub Pages and Cloudflare: fast and reliable hosting.
- Google Analytics 4, Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools: measurement and search tracking.
What to check before hiring a web designer
When you collect quotes, make sure you get clear answers to these questions:
- Is the design custom or a ready-made theme?
- Whose name will the domain, hosting and email be registered under? (It should always be yours.)
- Are technical SEO and speed optimisation included in the price?
- Who will write the copy and provide the images?
- How are changes and maintenance priced after launch?
- Will the source code and all access be handed over to you?
